Samrat Prithviraj, the biographical drama and action film is based on the life and times of the legendary warrior king “Prithviraj Chauhan”. With Akshay Kumar in the lead role, it focuses on the valiant warrior’s military might, his love story with princess Sanyogita (Manushi Chhillar) and his epic battle with the invader Mohammad Ghori of Afghanistan. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood.
Samrat Prithviraj released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on June 3 and is competing in the box office with two simultaneous releases, Kamal Haasan’s Vikram and Adivi Sesh’s Major. With a collection of little over 10 crore on day one, it grossed 12.60 crore on second day getting cumulative 23.30 crore at the box office. The box office collection is witnessing a gradual increase and it is expected that it will get into 100 crore league withing this week itself.
Analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted, “#SamratPrithviraj started on a strong note by collecting 10.70 crore net on Friday. It recorded a robust growth on Saturday by collecting 12.60 crore nett, taking the total collections to 23.30 crore nett. With the current trend, it’s looking to post a strong growth on Sunday (sic).”
