Mohalla Assi is a Bollywood critical film which is totally based on Dr. Kashinath Singh’s popular Hindi novel Kashi Ka Assi, a comedy on the commercialisation of the pilgrimage city, and fake gurus that the lure foreign tourists. In morning he always sit on the the pier and start to help of all pilgrims while in afternoon they teaches Sanskrit. Assi Ghat is a ghat which is situated in Varanasi (Banaras) on the banks of Ganges River, and these film also based on a famous and historical ‘Mohalla’ (locality) by the ghat, on the southern end of Banaras.
Also starring Ravi Kishen and Sakshi Tanwar, the film is based on the post-independence period.
The impact of globilization is seen in Varanasi and also Assi Ghat. Lots of foreign people visit Assi Ghat but in Mohalla Assi, any foreign can’t achieve paying guest facility. Dharmanath is against it because he think that what was the work of foreigners in the home of the Brahmins? Instead of these Other pundit want to give foreigners resident for greed, but they can not raise voice against Dharmendra.
After all, after sometime Dharmanath had to compromise with his principles because his teacher jobs was finished. That’s why he accommodate a foreigners family, to stay at her home paying guest for earning point of view.
In this movie there was a Kanni Guru (Ravi Kishan) who has no theory in life. Necrum (Faisal Rashid) who has its own principles. In this movie you will see how the conflict of the principles of these three has been shown as per changing times.
