Lata Mangeshkar: The Woman with a Golden Voice and Evergreen Melodies

With completion age of 88 years, still she believes that, she is young and as on today of this age, her voice has a magic and evergreen melodies, is only and one Golden Voice of India, Bharat Ratna, Kokil Kanthi, Lata Mangeshkar. She has just celebrated her birthday, on completion of 88 years and asked to her voice lovers and media that, she feel herself today, as a young lady only, years of age is only numbers. That’s a spirit.

High spirit woman and only legend lady singer of India, Lataji was born on 28th September, 1929, in Indore. She is having one brother, named Hridaynath and three sisters, named Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar and Meena Mangeshkar. We know that, Asha ji and Usha ji both are also good singers. She has started her singing career in 1942 and still her voice is alive in Indian Film Industries. She is a personality, who has sing around 50,000 songs in her life, in different 20 languages. After M.S. Shubhlakshmi, she is a second vocalist of India, who honoured by “Bharat Ratna”, a highest civilian honour of India, in 2001. She got Padma Bhusan” award in 1969 and “Padma Vibhushan” award in 1999. She is awarded for Dada Saheb Falke Award in 1989, Maharashtra Bhusan award in 1997, NTR National award in 1999 and ANR National award in 2009. She also won Filmfare award for four times and also, life time achievement Filmfare award in 1993, as well as, three times National Film Award, and 12 Bengal films journalist association awards, with also, Rajeev Gandhi Sadbhavna Award in 1999.

“E Mere Vatan Ke Logo, Jara Yad Kurbani”, song is very well known in our country and it was singing by Lataji only, in presence of Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. In earl stage of career, she has given duet songs with super singers, Mukesh, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mahendra Kapoor, Hemant Kumar and Manna dey. In 1980s she has given best duets with Shabbir Kumar, Nitin Mukesh, Shailendra Singh, Manahar Udhas, Mohammad Aziz, Amit Kumar and Vinod Rathod. In 1990s Pankaj Udhas, Abhijit Bhattacharya, Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan were her duet partners and then in 2000s Sonu Nigam Adnan Sami and A. R. Rehman were her duet partners. In short, we can say that, since 1950s to 2000s, there is no male voice, who has not performed with Lataji. She has produced one Marathi and three Hindi movies and also given music direction for five movie’s songs.

Even in new series of movie after 1990, she has given her best in movie, Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Dil to Pagal Hai, Hum Apke Hai Kaun, Pukar, Rang De Basanti, Lagaan, Veer-Zara, Bewafaa, Page-3 and many more. Any person can’t count her performing items and nobody can judge her best performance, because she is a personality, who has performed continuously 75 years in Hindi Film Industry and Indian Singing Occasions. She was in relationship with S.D Burman and for that, she has not work between 1958 to 1962. She was also having difference of opinion with great male singer, Mohammad Rafi.
